How to find the confidence to book a boudoir session

This blog post is going to get super personal. I like to work through new poses and processes on myself before implementing them for clients, so the other day that’s exactly what I did. I gave myself a makeover, I also do the hair and makeup for my clients, and got my sweet husband to take some photos of me. I talk a lot about why I think it’s important for me to get IN FRONT of the camera here.

I’ve gained 15 pounds in the last 4 months

No one likes it when they have gained weight, least of all me. I had been working so hard to lose weight after my second baby and was feeling awesome! And then we bought a house and did a complete renovation of the Raleigh NC area boudoir studio. And somehow in the midst of the chaos, I ate too much take out and sadly put on the weight, however, I am such a believer in the power of boudoir that I did my photos anyway. And honestly, I have to say, I think I look amazing and feel really sexy! Not only does this experience help me to feel great about myself it helps my marriage too!

The poses and lighting for the boudoir are crucial

The main reason for testing out new poses is to find the best angles and best light to capture my clients in the best way possible. I am a size 12/14, had 2 babies in the last 3 years, which is similar to a lot of my clients so I feel like I am a good test subject and if I have done the poses then it’s easier for me to direct my clients in them as well.

Outfits are included

I have a large client wardrobe that my clients can use! Every piece I am wearing in my photos is available for clients! Choosing the right lingerie is critical for the best results and I will help my clients pick the most flattering pieces for their body type.

You don’t have to have the perfect body to look amazing

I am a firm believer in body positivity!! However, I also believe that some editing is okay, when you are arching your back it’s normal for your tummy to push forward, so that is something I can correct in photoshop. I also do some skin smoothing and correct dark circles under the eyes. I don’t do much and I keep it looking natural, here’s a great example of the kind of editing I offer.
