Top 5 Ways To Make Your Boudoir Photos Timeless

When you think about boudoir photos a lot of people often think of 80’s and 90’s glamour photography and how dated they look 30-40 years later. I remember when my own mother came home from her glam session and how excited she was about her photos. As rewarding as they were for her, they were quickly dated and she doesn’t have them displayed anymore.

When you come in for a boudoir session I want your entire experience to be memorable and give you products and photos that will stand the test of time.

Top 5 Ways To Make Your Boudoir Session Timeless

  1. Keep it simple - When selecting a wardrobe for your boudoir photos try to stick to some of the classics, such as bodysuits, garter sets, men’s shirts, thigh highs, etc. These items never go out of style and have a very timeless feel to them.

  2. Keep jewelry minimal - You can certainly go with bold statement pieces with jewelry to showcase your style, but if timeless is your goal I would suggest something simple like diamonds, and pearls.

  3. Realistic editing - This tip is at the discretion of the photographer, but if you are looking at boudoir photographers and you want a timeless look go for a photographer that edits in a way that resembles real life, nothing too moody or bright or dark.

  4. Keep makeup simple - Does simple seem like a theme? Ha ha ha. When thinking of what kind of makeup you’ll want for your session think of classic looks and nothing that is too trendy or over the top. Do you remember when crease-cut eye shadow was super dramatic about 5 or 6 years ago? We definitely passed on using that makeup technique in the studio for clients who wanted a timeless feel to their photos.

  5. Natural never goes out of style - when in doubt err on the side of your natural appearance, a woman’s natural beauty is something that will never go out of style. Embrace yourself, after all, a boudoir photoshoot is a super empowering experience.
